FAQ

New student employees and students who have had any break in service with UNM must present I-9 documentation when submitting hiring paper work in order to be placed on the payroll system. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf

To be considered for a work study award for the academic year students must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid and request a work study award through the Student Financial Aid Office. 

WORK STUDY STUDENT

  1. Must have a completed Financial Aid application on file.
  2. Must be registered in at least six (6)- credit hours.
  3. Must be in a degree granting college.
  4. Must have received a work study award for the academic year from the Student Financial Aid Office.
  5. Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to continue through the spring session.
  6. Must have completed all necessary hiring paperwork in the Student Employment Office.
STUDENT EMPLOYEES (NON-WORK STUDY STUDENT)

  1. Must be registered in at least six (6) hours in order to be eligible for employment.
  2. Must be in a degree granting college.
  3. Must have completed all necessary hiring paperwork in the Student Employment Office.

FAQ's

My student graduated last semester. Can he/she still work under student employment?

 No. If you wish to continue your graduate, you must hire them through UNMTemps.

Can I hire incoming freshman or transfer students?

Incoming students are not eligible for employment until the first date of their class. If you would like to hire the student before the semester begins, you may hire them through UNMTemps (505) 277-6947

My student has a hold on his/her record. Can he/she still work?

No. Eligibility for student employment is based on enrollment. If a student has a hold on their record then they cannot enroll. You may hire the student through UNMTemps until the hold is removed.
